At last - a skill for a well paid job! If you're looking for a career with something new happening every day, and worldwide employment opportunities, court reporting or steno captioning may be for you!

Obtain machine shorthand skill by independent home study for a well-paid career! Become a professional Court Reporter or Television and Media Steno Captioner and earn $80000 (Australian) per year or more, in the growth industry of real-time reporting.

The school was established in response to an identified need for comprehensively trained court and parliamentary reporters and media stenocaptioners. It is the first NSW educational program to provide students with the 'real-time' stenographic shorthand and associated computer skills necessary to gain employment in courts, parliaments and captioning organisations in Australia.

The Australian School of Court Reporting (NSW) Pty Ltd was established in Melbourne, Australia in July 1998 as a joint venture between ComputerReporters Pty Ltd in Sydney and Transcripts Australia Pty Ltd. The School has evolved from a traditional classroom environment to an online training and tutorial support and speed development and assessment service. This site contains digital sound files of complete real time, computer compatible, conflict-free Phoenix machine shorthand theory lessons and speed building training materials which may be downloaded by beginning and advanced independent students throughout Australia and internationally.

This home-study website has been established to assist students in their independent home studies towards becoming court and parliamentary reporters and media stenocaptioners. This website is the first online training facility in machine shorthand in Australia, and is among very few online facilities for the industry worldwide, and has a highly competitive fee structure.

The training materials available on this website are made available on the understanding and condition that those using the materials are doing so as independent students. The Australian School of Court Reporting (NSW) Pty Ltd no longer accepts formal enrolments nor does it operate this website. Intending independent home-study students of machine shorthand may, upon application, use the training materials and personal online tutorial and assessment services on this website to assist their learning of machine shorthand and speed acquisition from beginner through to professional standard.

Enquiries for access to website training materials, tutorial and assessment support should be directed by email through the How to Apply section.
